FIRST RESIDENCE PERMIT
Since May 1st 2004, a citizen of the European Union may enter Slovenia with valid identity card or passport, without a visa or a residence permit.
During the first three months of stay in the Slovenia a residence permit is not necessary, however you must register with the local police authorities:

If you are going to stay in Slovenia longer than 90 days, counting from the day of your entry, a residential permit is required, which will be issued by the local authorities of the region in which you will be resident.
Residence application conditions:
Documents for first residence permit:
- a valid identity card or passport;
- conformation of enrollment at Academy of design in Ljubljana;
- an appropriate health insurance in respect of all risks ;
- sufficient means of subsistence during your stay in Slovenia.
Non EU incoming student must also obtain a residential permit. They have to contact nearest diplomatic or consular representative office of the Republic of Slovenia.
Along with application you must enclose:
- a certified photocopy of your valid passport;
- confirmation of your enrollment at the Academy of design in Ljubljana;
- an appropriate health insurance in respect of all risks;
- sufficient means of subsistence during your stay in Slovenia;
- and a certificate of non criminal act.

HEALTH INSURANCE
Students have to obtain a health insurance certificate prior to their arrival to Slovenia.

HOUSING
There are two possibilities: to rent a private room or apartment (look in local newspapers and real-estate agencies) or to rent a room managed by the students’ residence halls.
