Study Programme

The high professional study programme covers the areas of interior, textiles and fashion design and visual communications and is as such interdisciplinary, with the emphasis on team work of all segments. It is designed as extensive and ambitious since it covers general knowledge from the fields of design, humanities and economy as well as specific knowledge from particular fields. The conceptual emphasis of the programme is on the transfer of commercial knowledge, innovations and skills, which are important for graduates in the field of self-employment and the opening of own enterprises.

Now the faculty mostly orients, by means of directed education, designers with high professional education who are able to adapt to the commercial market and promote themselves there, to the economy.

The aim of a successful education is a quality transfer of knowledge, experiences and good practices from professors to future designers, who are able to place their innovative ideas on global design markets. The creation of new posts is also one of the key objectives of the Lisbon strategy, which are supported by the management of the faculty.

However, a fast and effective employment is not only the goal of every graduate, but a reality that the Academy of Design in Ljubljana can bring about.

Great stress is laid on the transference of knowledge and experimental researches on which is build the technological progress and development of new teaching programs. Through cooperation with industry, study practice and new researches from the field of economy are parallelly conducted. A modern program offers the graduates the possibility of a fast integration in the world of industry and through practice the possibility of self-establishment and activity on the Slovene as well as external markets of the design profession.

Interdisciplinarity of programs: As the students of "Interior Design" focus on subjects such as "Interior design of residential edifices, Interior design of commercial buildings, European influences on interior.", the to-be fashion designers and visual communicants focus on subjects that pertain to their area of expertise. Even so, we strongly stimulate interdisciplinarity. Students of any program can attend and take exams from any subject that would generally belong to one of the other two programs.
